We rarely discuss medical treatments here on Well with Brielle and usually highlight natural wellness methods, however, there is a time and place for everything, including medicine.

During the summer of 2020, I had my wisdom teeth removed. All of them!

I’ve never had surgery and was pretty terrified, but it was a necessary evil due to the pain my wisdom teeth had been causing. Having my wisdom teeth surgically removed was definitely painful, but not quite as miserable as I feared it might be. Should I make a blog post with details on my experience of having my wisdom teeth removed? Leave a comment below and let me know!

Anyways, post-surgery it was crucial for me to create a medication management process because I was not used to taking prescriptions throughout the day. Even if you are not managing multiple medications, but have one medication to manage, it can get a bit confusing or simply hard to remember.

Here are tips that helped me manage my medication, vitamins, and any other treatments during my post-surgery experience:

1) Keep a Written Log

Write down all the medications you took, the quantity or amount of the medication, and the time that you took it. I even like to take an extra step and write out my medicine schedule for the day. This saves me time and ensures that I’m consistent instead of trying to figure it out later on.

If you’re not taking medication, this same method can be used to track your treatments or take your vitamins.

2) Include the Help of Others

Let someone else know what’s going on so they can remind you of your schedule. Tell them how often you’re supposed to take your medication when you’ve taken your medication thus far and any other key details like if anything else is going on. This tip is also helpful just in case you’re experiencing any discomfort or weird side effects.

3) Use a Pill Organizer

Pill organizers are a great way to keep track of not just your medication but also your vitamins. You can prep for the day or a few days beforehand by storing your pills in these organizers and then easily accessing them later on.

I found lots of really cute pill organizers from Amazon and am sharing some links below.

I really like the idea of this monthly pill organizer that includes twice a day pill storage, so you can stock up once a month, rather than weekly or bi-weekly. Lastly, this pink pill organizer seems great for traveling or keeping vitamins/medications well organized within your purse.
